Before modern technology connected the world, messenger pigeons carried critical messages across battlefields and cities, saving lives and uniting communities. This sculpture juxtaposes the bird’s historical significance with a classic looking ‘time expired’ parking meter, reflecting how these once-vital creatures have been left behind by progress.
Ashleigh Branham loves Pigeons and when she see them out and about in the cities her heart breaks for them knowing not only do they have an enduring sense of connection to people, but that through there generations of working alongside us they lost much of their survival instincts. This is a call to recognize their intelligence, loyalty, and resilience. A plead to view them not as relics or pests but with renewed respect for their service, and their potential as companions.
